We at S.A.F.E.R. support Everglades
restoration. Anglers for decades have been concerned about our
environment. We believe that the impediment to sheetflow is the
levees and not the canals. S.A.F.E.R. feels that if the levees
were removed (or partially removed), water would sheetflow overtop of
the canals.
A healthy, restored Everglades with its
increased connectivity will provide additional spawning, nursery, and
foraging habitat for our sportfish and their prey. This will
provide system wide benefits, as well as potentially improve the quality
and quantity of sportfish populations.
